In Nagaur, Rajasthan, Mr Balveer and Mrs Punam are a humble couple who have already faced heartbreaking loss. In 2023, they lost their unborn child at five months of pregnancy. The grief stayed with them, but they continued to hold onto hope that one day they would welcome a healthy baby into their home.
On 2 February 2026, that hope returned when Mrs Punam gave birth to a baby boy. But their happiness quickly turned into fear. The baby was born extremely premature at seven months, weighing only 1050 grams. Instead of celebrating his arrival, the parents were once again standing outside a hospital, praying for their child’s survival.
Their newborn son is currently admitted in the NICU at Neo Clinic Children Hospital in Jaipur. He is suffering from respiratory distress, neonatal jaundice, and acute kidney injury. He remains on oxygen support and requires constant medical supervision. Every hour is critical, and every day in the NICU is a fight for life.
Mr Balveer works in the kitchen of a hotel and earns only thirteen thousand rupees per month. In their effort to save both mother and child, the family has already spent two lakh rupees. They have exhausted their savings and borrowed beyond their means. Now, they have no financial support left to continue the life saving treatment.
After losing one child in the past, this newborn represents their only hope and future. The fear of losing another child is unbearable for them.
