On 12 December 2025, happiness entered the simple home of Mr Ashok and Mrs Suman, farmers from Village Baori in Sikar district of Rajasthan. Mrs Suman gave birth to twin babies, and for a brief moment, their lives felt complete. After years of hard work in the fields and endless daily struggles, this was meant to be the beginning of a joyful new chapter.
But that joy was painfully short lived.
Soon after birth, one of the twins, Baby of Suman, was diagnosed with a severe congenital condition known as Esophageal Atresia with Tracheoesophageal Fistula. Along with this, the newborn was also suffering from severe pneumonia and type one respiratory failure. The baby could not breathe properly. He could not feed. Every passing minute became a race against time.
Realising the seriousness of the situation, the family rushed their newborn to DMICC Hospital in Jaipur. On 13 December 2025, doctors performed an emergency life saving surgery to correct the condition. The surgery gave the baby a chance to survive, but it was only the first step in a long and uncertain journey.
Today, Baby of Suman is admitted to the NICU and remains on oxygen support. His condition is still critical. Doctors have advised intensive treatment and close monitoring for the next several weeks. He requires continuous NICU care, respiratory support, strong medicines, frequent investigations, and round the clock medical attention to stay alive.
For a newborn who has just entered the world, survival depends entirely on this specialised care.
For his parents, this situation has been devastating.
Mr Ashok is a small farmer who earns just enough to manage basic household needs. The family has no savings and no medical insurance. The estimated cost of treatment is between six to seven lakh rupees, an amount far beyond what they could ever afford.
In desperation, Mr Ashok has already borrowed money from relatives and friends, exhausting every possible source of help. Despite his efforts, the expenses continue to rise, and the family now stands completely helpless. Every day, he watches his newborn struggle for life, knowing that without support, continuing treatment will soon become impossible.
This is not a request for comfort or luxury.
This is a plea for survival.
Baby of Suman has just begun his life. He deserves the chance to breathe freely, to grow strong, and to one day play in the fields his parents work so hard to cultivate.
