When Gautam Kumar left his hometown Prayagraj and came to Jaipur, his only dream was to earn enough to provide a better life for his family. As a daily wage labourer, he works long hours under the burning sun, earning just seven hundred rupees a day. Life was already a struggle, but nothing prepared him for the battle he is facing today.
On 1 December 2025, his wife, Mrs. Nisha, gave birth to their baby boy. What should have been their happiest day quickly turned into a nightmare. The newborn weighed only 1320 grams and was unable to breathe properly. From the very first moment, he was fighting for life.
The parents rushed him to a government hospital, praying for proper care. But as days passed, they felt their baby was not getting the intensive support he urgently needed. His condition remained extremely fragile. Terrified and desperate, they made the difficult decision to shift him to Cradle Children Hospital, Jaipur.
The moment they arrived, the medical team immediately admitted the newborn to the NICU. He was placed on oxygen support and connected to critical machines to stabilize his breathing and vital functions. Every second matters for a baby this small. Every minute is a fight.
For Gautam, the last few days have felt like a lifetime. His life is no longer about earning for survival, but about saving his son.
So far, he has somehow managed to spend one and a half lakh rupees on treatment — an unimaginable amount for a man who earns daily wages. He has used every rupee of his savings. He has borrowed from relatives, neighbours, anyone who could help. But the estimated treatment cost is expected to cross ten lakh rupees.
This number is not just beyond his reach. It is impossible for him to arrange on his own.
And yet, despite the exhaustion, fear and stress, whenever Gautam looks at his tiny baby fighting inside the NICU, he says the same words with tears in his eyes.
“Mera beta bache bas… main sab kar lunga."
